Hello, District 15, it’s Codi Galloway. I’m going to give you an update on what’s happening here at the Capitol Building.
First, good news. If you’ve been watching the news, you may think that there’s a lot of fighting going on in politics but I want to assure you that in Idaho, we are working hard to work for the Idahoans, all of them. I have had great experiences with kindness and respect from House, Senate, Democrat, Republican, seniority, freshmen. Everyone seems to be wanting to work together to make Idaho a great place to be. That’s really good news. That we can work and be kind and respectful of one another.
Second, I want to talk to you about a bill that’s really important that’s coming through State Affairs. That is helping ensure that all Idahoans have the right to work and they will never be labeled as an essential worker or a non-essential worker. I like that. I think every Idahoan should be able to work and support their family regardless of government intervention.
Third, I want to ask for your advice. I’m on the Education Committee and one of the things that I’ll be wrestling with and understanding more is the funding formula on how we fund our public schools. There’s a debate on whether we want to fund them based on enrollment or based on attendance. If you have any insight or experience on that, I’d encourage your comments.
Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’ll spell that out in the comments below. Thank you. Have a great week.
